Apologetics for a Confused Age - Rebecca McLaughlin

Thursday, 22nd January 2026 16:00 Online

Rebecca McLaughlin is a Christian author, speaker and apologist whose work engages contemporary culture with the gospel. She holds a PhD in English literature from University of Cambridge and a theology degree from Oak Hill College (London).

She is the author of several noted works, including:

  • Confronting Christianity: 12 Hard Questions for the World’s Largest Religion (2019), which was named Book of the Year by Christianity Today.

  • The Secular Creed: Engaging 5 Contemporary Claims (2021) — one of the books from which her lecture will draw.

  • 10 Questions Every Teen Should Ask (and Answer) about Christianity (2021) — helping a younger generation engage the faith.

  • Confronting Jesus: 9 Encounters with the Hero of the Gospels (2022) — a further exploration of Christian identity and mission.

Rebecca brings a passionate concern to help Christians think well, live faithfully and engage culture graciously. At our event she will deliver two lectures titled:

  1. “The Secular Creed” — exploring the underlying beliefs of secular society and how they interface with Christian faith.

  2. “Transgender Identities” — addressing one of the pressing cultural conversations of our time from a gospel-centred perspective.

We are delighted that Rebecca will be taking the Hugh D Brown Lecture, sharing her insights and helping us deepen our understanding of faith, culture and ministry.
