I realise now, that I didn't sign up for a three year degree. I signed up for three years of preparation that would grow with me as the months, and God willing, years go by in ministry.

The Postgraduate Programme

In addition to offering a comprehensive programme of undergraduate courses the College also makes provision for students who may wish to engage in theological studies at postgraduate level.

Our main postgraduate programme is the Master in Theology (MTh). There are a range of students on the programme: some are building on their undergraduate studies in theology, some are studying alongside ministry and view it as professional development, and some hold a degree in another discipline but now wish to pursue a theological qualification.

The programme can accommodate this variety of students due to its flexibility. The en bloc teaching requires only 16 days attendance across two years, with on-site teaching being supplemented by assignment completion off campus. The assignments are academically orientated, but also provide opportunity for reflection on practice. This is mirrored by the teaching staff who are academically qualified while also being experienced practitioners. The flexible programme has a series of potential exit points and all awards are validated by Spurgeon's College, London.

The College also offers a flexible payment plan which can be spread over the course of your studies. Unfortunately, this course is not eligible for SLC tuition fee loan at this time.

The MTh programme is a part-time, varied and practical programme that offers different pathways to the final award. Enquiries about applying for postgraduate study should be directed to the Director of Postgraduate Studies through the contact form or by calling the College on  +44 (0)2892619267.

Course Structure

The course begins with the compulsory Study Skills module, after which the student completes the below modules. In the final year students write a dissertation on an area of study that is of personal interest.

PhD
We also invite enquiries from those interested in pursuing a PhD by writing an original thesis on an area of specialist research. This may be of interest to those who are perhaps considering teaching and lecturing and who already hold a postgraduate qualification in Theology or a cognate discipline at Masters level.

Enquiries about doctoral research should be directed to the Director of Postgraduate Studies through the contact form or by calling the College on  +44 (0)2892619267.
